About Stephanie Eland

Textiles

Stephanie Eland is a textile artist that uses her inspiration from nature and the outdoors to build a connection between a moment in time and possibly the overlooked parts of nature.  Stephanie builds the story by encompassing natures patterns and or randomness through the manipulation of fibre, paints, dyes, and threads.

Stephanie exhibits her work in Galleries within Adelaide and the Mid North of South Australia, has been shortlisted for the West Torrens Art Prize 2023.  She is currently studying to complete her Bachelor Degree in Visual Arts at Adelaide Central School of Art and has studied under local and international tutors gaining valuable knowledge with the use of drawing, mixed media, design, and composition.

As a participant of Studio Art Quilt Association worldwide auctions, she has had works acquired and are now part of both a Texas and Californian private art collection.

Stephanie was born in Mildura Victoria and in her early years learnt the importance of the connection to the outdoors and experienced the art of observation.  She now lives in Gawler South Australia and still finds her sense of place in the great outdoors.

Old Union Chapel

As the Barossa’s oldest public building, the Old Union Chapel’s history forms part of a rich tapestry of local church activities from the time of settlement. Built in 1844 to provide a place of worship for people of all denominations, this church became a meeting place for many years before falling into a state of disrepair and being uitlised as a farm building.

Restored in 1989-1994 as a Bi-centennial project to commemorate the local pioneering spirit and religious freedom, the Chapel’s rejuvenation saw it added to the Register of State Heritage in 1993. Since then, this unique public building has become a much-loved destination for locals and visitors looking to celebrate milestones in an historic setting. The Old Union Chapel is a multi-denominational public space.
