Anthony Skiparis at Lou Miranda Estate

About Anthony Skiparis

Pen & Ink Drawings

Anthony J. Skiparis is an artist whose life journey, marked by service, challenges, and a profound connection to the Australian landscape has found a second chapter in art, one that captures the beauty and memories of a life well-lived.

Within his artistic journey, Anthony found that his favoured medium is pen and ink. This medium, with its balance of precision and reflection, allowed him to meticulously craft his drawings, often inspired by memories of times past and the places and events that have shaped his life. As a resident of the Barossa since 2008, the local flora, architecture, and landscapes have left an indelible mark on his work.

Anthony's creative process is one marked by intention and patience. He carefully selects his compositions, often inspired by a second glance, a lingering stare, a rough thumbnail sketch, or a photograph. The initial sketch takes shape with an HB or 2B pencil, and the subsequent drawing is meticulously rendered using Uni Pin fine line pens ranging from 0.05mm to 0.8mm. Every stroke carries weight and significance, making each moment a delicate balancing act.
