The inaugural Barossa Arts Festival is a month long celebration of colour, creativity and culture for the entire month of April 2022.

It has been created and driven by local artists and supportive partners. It is envisaged to be a bi-annual event, created through collaborative partnerships between artists, local industry and the public.

It is designed to be a platform that showcases the talent of our local SA Artists, creates interest in the Arts and increases tourism to the area, making Art and a variety of Art practices available and inclusive to all ages, abilities and cultures.

We believe it’s about time the Barossa was recognised for more than just our excellent wines and food. Not only will this be a popular addition to Barossa’s Event calendar, but an amazing opportunity to raise the profile of the Arts and provide a valuable economic boost to Artists and local businesses in the region through increased visitation after the serious impact of Covid.

The event aims to deliver 30+ dynamic Artist led workshops, live visual art demonstrations, opportunities to meet the artists, a variety of live music, local cuisine and a range of creative opportunities for the community to be involved with most of this activity happening on our highlight “Meet The Maker” long weekend Apr 1-3.

60 Artists, 40+ Pop-up venues, across 7 towns.

Where else can people have the unique opportunity to watch Artists at work in a huge range of art mediums and enrol in workshops to learn some of their tips and techniques?

As a first time event, this has been a huge amount of work to bring to fruition, the highlight has been the interactions between venue operators/owners and Artists, meeting some genuinely amazing individuals with a really strong community spirit. I have been touched by the generosity of some complete strangers that see merit in this event and the potential benefits it can bring to our region and The Arts in SA. It’s also been fantastic to receive financial support from our many sponsor partners and the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia.

It is clear that the creative and cultural industries play a vital role in contributing to the wellbeing, prosperity and identity of a community it will be great to see the positive impact our Barossa Arts Festival will have on everyone’s mental wellbeing and the local community spirit!

Artists will display work for sale at all the venues and an art auction of participating Artist’s work will occur on Sunday April 3 at Peter Lehmann Wines, with part proceeds going towards Tutti Arts. All venues will display their artists’ work for the month of April, providing greater opportunity for the artists to generate further income. An artisan Makers Market, a family focussed picnic style “Art In The Park” event, and an Upcycled Sculpture Competition are just some of the other events planned. Follow our exciting event programme on our Socials and get involved!
